CIM-U-LATOR Gearbox, 1 RS-775 size motor
CIM-U-LATOR Gearbox, 1 RS-775 size motor
Code: S24K-C1-7
Price: $29.95
Quantity:
CIM-U-LATOR gearbox
Mounts one RS-775 sized motor
Output shaft and face mounting same as a CIM motor
Yes, we know a drawing would be very helpful and hope to post one as soon as possible. Until then: Gearbox is made from two Aluminum blocks with a cavity machined between them for the gears. Each block has a ball bearing to support the output shaft, output gear is located on the shaft between the ball bearings. The two blocks are assembled with four 6-32 socket head cap screws - one in each corner. Each block has two 10-32 mounting holes on one of the 2.5" sides. When the blocks are assembled, the side mounting holes form a 0.75" square centered on the bottom of the gearbox. The blocks are symmetrical so that one block can be rotated 180 degrees giving mounting holes on top and bottom. The two 10-32 Face mounting holes are 1.25" from top/bottom of gearbox (centered) and 1" from center (2 inches apart, same as CIM).

SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED
Gearbox will be delivered assembled and tested; however, it will need to be disassembled to grease and mount the motor(s) prior to use. No special tools are required, typically 2 hex wrenchs. A small arbor press or bench vise is useful for pushing the pinion onto the motor shaft. The gearbox MUST BE GREASED prior to use, grease IS NOT INCLUDED and must be purchased separately. We recommend Mobil XHP 222 Special grease; however, most lithium based ball bearing grease can be used. We do not sell grease separately, it can be readily purchased from most local auto parts stores or online suppliers such as MSC and McMaster among others.

MOTOR
This gearbox will mount one RS-775 or similar motors. NOTE: The boss on the front of an RS-775 may come in two standard sizes, we call them large and small for simplicity. This gearbox only supports RS-775 motors with a large boss. Our 18V RS-775 has a large boss and will work with this gearbox, our 12V RS-775 has a small boss and will not work with this gearbox.
MOTOR NOT INCLUDED - Motor must be purchased separately, Click for motors

MOUNTING HARDWARE INCLUDED
Gearbox includes one mounting kit. Mounting kit contains everything required to mount 1 motor including pinion, screws, and lock washers to attach the motor to the gearbox.
The correct pinion for this gearbox is the S24P-GMC1-50, additional pinions can be purchased separately or as a complete mounting kit.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Remove all items from bag
  2. Ensure bearings are properly seated. The original design called for the bearing to be a slip fit in the blocks to allow easy assembly - the design was changed to make the bearing an interference fit. Both provide the same functionality; however, if you received a block with the slip fit you may need to reinsert the bearing as it may have fallen out during shipping. No special tools are required to do this, simply slip the bearing into the hole. The bearing will be held in place by the shaft and gear.
  3. Slide the keyed portion of the shaft through the front block bearing. The front block is the block with the two 10-32 tapped holes.
  4. Slide the large gear onto the shaft. You will need to align the flats on the shaft with the hex in the gear in order to get the gear over the round portion of the shaft. IMPORTANT: Ensure that the boss on the gear is facing towards the short side of the shaft. If it is facing the long side of the shaft the gear will rub on the back block.
  5. Press the pinion onto the motor, The base (lowest portion of the pinion) should be approximately 0.22 inches from the face of the motor (ensure you measure from the face of the motor and not the boss on the front of the motor). Exact placement of the pinion is not critical. FYI, the diameter of the head of the included 6-32 socket head cap screws is approximately 0.22 inches, one of the screws can be used to help gauge the distance.
  6. Insert the motor into the back block and fasten with included screws / washers.
  7. If mounting two motors (RS-540/RS-550 only) install pinion and 2nd motor. NOTE: If only one motor is used with a gearbox that will support two motors, we recommend covering the unused motor hole with tape to keep foreign objects out of the gearbox.
  8. IMPORTANT: Apply grease to the gears.
  9. Assemble the front and back blocks with the included 6-32 screws. The blocks can be assembled so that all mounting holes are together or one block can be rotated 180 degrees so that there are mounting holes on top and bottom.
  10. If needed by the application of the gearbox, slide the alignment bushing over the shaft and assemble to front block. The alignment bushing mimics the boss on the front of a CIM motor and is not required for operation ob the CIM-U-LATOR in stand alone applications - it can be added or removed as required. NOTE: The alignment bushing is required and must be installed if mounting the CIM-U-LATOR to a P80 gearbox.
